Sustainable Development - Human Dimension

A local company

Solidly grounded in and proud to be a part of its community, social well-being has always played an important role in the company. At the time of its founding (1985), jobs in the region were hard to come by.

In this economic environment, founder Mario Bilodeau saw not only the opportunity to create a company for himself, but also for those around him. Through the years, this desire to provide work to others in the community resulted in the addition of various trades to the company and expansion of the products offered. Today the company has over 85 employees.

In March 2020, this concern for others was brought to the forefront. The government announcement to close all non-essential businesses due to the spread of Covid-19 was a shock for the company’s management and for Mario in particular. For him, sending employees home was unthinkable. The administration looked at various options and reached out to their contacts to find alternatives. Within just a few days, a part of the production lines had been converted and the personnel recruited for the production of PPE. Approximately 40 people, or half of the staff, were able to return to work and indirectly support healthcare workers during many months in 2020.

The return to normal operations was in 2021. In our region, as in all of Quebec, the labour shortage is a new reality. This affects our operations and weakens the employment of our staff. Since 2020, the company has opened up to the world and welcomes many workers from other countries.

Contribute to the well-being of your community

On a daily basis, the well-being of employees is of the utmost importance. Work stations are customized to the individual in order to reduce health risks. Similarly, various pieces of equipment have been acquired or even created in order to make many tasks both easier and safer to accomplish. A wide range of schedules is available to employees, allowing them to balance work and the needs of their families.

BILODEAU Canada is an active corporate citizen within its community. Members of its team are involved in a variety of committees and advisory boards. We are especially proud of Samuel Bilodeau, a partner in the company, who is member of the administrative board of the Quebec Wildlife Foundation .

Every year, we support multiple causes, such as the Dolbeau Hospital Foundation, of which Mario was honorary president in 2020, as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada | Fondation Rêves d'enfants du Canada.
